For those who do,I believe that the adults like to take some time out from their busy lives,and subconsciously categorize all the nonsensical comedy and irony that they show in the cartoon as 'fun' or 'great time pass'. Spongebob Squarepants is a fun show to watch, uses friendly, non threatening or violent characters that engage in simple tasks, humorously.
