There are a subset of the Canadian population that love the monarchy (The Monarchist League of Canada) and there is a subset that hates it (Citizens for a Canadian Republic). There are probably other groups on both sides of the issue but you get the idea. read more

We do not have the monarchy of the UK here in Canada. We have the monarchy of Canada. The Queen just happens to be the monarch of a bunch of different countries at the same time. For the record, there is no such thing as a Canadian monarchy. Yes, Canada is a Constitutional Monarchy but the monarch is the head of the Commonwealth (currently Queen Elizabeth II). Canada has a Governor General (GG) who serves as the Queen's representative and that's as close to a "monarchy" as we have. read more
