The first important fact you should know is: citizens of Latvia are not only Latvians. There is about 20–25% of citizens of Latvia, who have another etnic origin - mainly Russian. So we have Latvian Latvians and Russian Latvians, plus a bit of other minorities. read more
Non-citizens" of Latvia enjoy a benefit not afforded to citizens of being able to travel to both the Schengen Area (where citizens of Latvia can travel visa-free, too) as well as Russia, without the need for a visa. read more
