What do Italians think of Mario and Luigi?

Actually in Italy we do not make the connection that Mario & Luigi are supposed to be Italian characters. They are not marketed as the"Italian Plumbers" in Italy and their supposed Italian origin is not pushed forward in any of the Nintendo Marketing material as far as I am aware. read more

In the Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga series, Mario and Luigi are depicted as speaking Italian to each other, but broken English to other people, which is kind of a charming touch.
