Wolves generally think of dogs as competitors. Enemies. Prey. Meat. There are plenty of accounts, and even some YouTube videos, of wolves killing and eating dogs. Raise ’em together and you might have the wolf consider the dog part of its pack; otherwise the dog is lunch. read more

There would have been boar-hounds in a castle and maybe wolf-hounds. Big, aggressive dogs do not assume that they are inferior to wolves. Some small dogs might get pretty feisty also.
