Easily the hardest part was staying clean and presentable so I could look for work, especially for a decent job and not just a minimum wage unskilled job. Homeless shelters have showers but not laundry facilities. read more

My dad was homeless for a while. He said the worst part was being treated like he was less than human. The best thing you can do for someone in that situation is hold a friendly conversation with them, smile, or make some friendly social gesture. It will probably make their day. read more
