Like many of the big cats, lions have a fairly rough coat. Their fur over the body is generally quite thin, especially in summer. Lions have a fairly oily coat in most of the individuals I have worked with, so if you rub and scratch at their pelt, your fingers and the stuff under your fingernails get black with the oil. read more
