To most Police Departments nation wide “Light Duty” means you can work but not on the street at full duty. Generally they find a desk job or something you can do in the station that doesn't require physical exertion. read more
Officers and agents, while in the NYPD Police Academy, make a list of the top three boroughs they would prefer to work in (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island). Their preferences will be taken into account when assigning the officer or the agent to a precinct, though they won't necessarily get their top choice, or any preference on their list. read more
