I have a theory. Feel free to disagree with me, but I think H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos depicts the Day of the Lord. There’s been a resurgence of interest in Lovecraft over the last decade or so. I think part of his resurgence is because this early 20th century writer invited others to write stories within the world he created. read more
I’m only familiar with a few of his works. When I did ACT tutoring on the side, one of the reading passages I used was from Lovecraft. That inspired me to read a little more of his work, but not much. read more
Bear in mind that “The Nameless City” is an early story. As he developed as a writer, I think Lovecraft’s adjectival art came to flourish in contrasts, or at least in gradations. read more
