What does South Indians think of Ramayana?

Remember DandakaAranya where Rama went for vanavas falls in AP and there is a popular temple in Bhadrachalam(Andhra) the place where Rama has stayed during his vanavas. Ramayana does not seem to call South Indians as monkeys. That may be a separate race, perhaps mythical, perhaps the vanished neanderthals! Who knows. May be Vana-Nara got shortened as Vanara. All puranas and epics are embellished stories, with a kernel of truth. Therefore do not attempt to interpret them literally. read more
