Freediving fins will tend to be very long and quite stiff (I’m ignoring monofins here), to allow for maximum propulsion. They’re also of the full foot version, whereas scuba diving fins can be either with heel straps or full foot. The stiffer blade on a free diving fin can cause cramps if used for a really long time. read more

You can honestly get by with either, but for freediving, a freediving fin is vastly preferable to a scuba fin since all you have is the air in your lungs so anything that helps lower gas consumption is a big bonus. read more
