Honestly, if we're talking camping (as opposed to backpacking) your most important piece of gear is a decent small truck or SUV. I prefer 4 door or extended cab trucks with a camper shell (there's a reason for the name), but one could make a SUV work, although I find sleeping in the back of a truck easier. read more
