From what I can glean, the 1982 summit basically reaffirmed that the mandate established in 1972 at Stockholm still applied. read more
the 1982 Declaration also noted that participating members found that the environmental problems remained the same as were in 1972 and to continue the principles of the Stockholm Declaration with the need to refine those principles to address present and the coming global environment e.g. issues like climate change and ozone depletion were in 1982 just starting to transition from domain of science into the sphere of political awareness. read more
Earth Summit Actions. Subsequent Earth Summits included the 1982 Nairobi Summit, the 1992 Rio de Janeiro Summit, and the 2002 Johannesburg Summit. The next Summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro, in 2012. In 1982, the Nairobi Summit did not achieve to much due to the circumstances at the time. The Cold War was then the priority for diplomacy. read more
