The government pays you for jury duty only so it does not appear this way. But the pay doesn't even cover the cost for transportation to and from the court. Most people do not "volunteer" for jury duty. Tto fine and/or prosecute someone for not participating in jury duty is a violation of everyone's personal freedom. read more
