A week or so might be a bit optimistic. Certainly, Archimedes was a pioneer in the method of increments, which eventually led to calculus, but he did not"invent" calculus by any means. Calculus is a generalization of the method of increments. Archimedes did not discover the derivative or obtain a truly rigorous understanding of the integral. read more
