Realistically, I don't see the two countries merging any time soon. Joining Indonesia would certainly have benefits for Malaysian minorities if a unified education system and equal rights could be extended to the new Malaysian provinces. read more

Malaysia has all but lost this. With exception to some pockets, Malaysia is also far more religious than Indonesia with faith occupying a very large part of every day life for Malays. For most Indonesians it is a more casual faith. read more
