The Empire takes various places it had wanted before the war (Galicia, the Turkish Straits, Armenia) as the Ottoman, German and Austrian Empire still collapse as a result of losing the war. The Russian Empire could possibly have survived if Czar Alexander II had survived the assassination attempt that did take his life in March if 1881. He was the closest thing the Empire had as a reformer. He pushed through the emancipation of the Serfs and reformed the military. read more
