There is no Buffalo Quarter design for general circulation. There was a buffalo on the Kansas state quarter but that is the only quarter with a buffalo on it. The Mount Rushmore golden anniversary half dollar had a buffalo on the reverse. read more

The buffalo design was used on nickels from 1913 to 1938 and again in 2005 (but very much revised), and all of those nickels were struck in an alloy of nickel and copper.
