A perfectly normal exchange — except that Alex happened to be an African Grey parrot, with a brain the size and shape of a shelled walnut. By all the accepted laws of nature, he should never have been able to hold a conversation with me. The sceptics — and there were plenty — said that parrots are capable only of mimicking words. read more
