What is chow like in the US Marine Corps boot camp?

I went through Parris Island in 2009. I was in 3rd battalion, which is apparently in the middle of nowhere compared to 1st and 2nd, and we had our own chow hall. I'm sure each battalion has one. The food you get is standard cafeteria food - its not gourmet, but its edible. read more

Don't know what it's like now, but when I was in boot camp the chow was horrible! Three meals a day, portions were regular sized, nothing special, powdered eggs, canned veggies, powdered potatoes, a couple strips of greasy bacon or a sausage patty, a piece of chicken or beef.
