To start with, the situation in Bangladesh is not as dire as in Afghanistan, and it definitely isn't slipping into Taliban rule. Hefajat-e-Islam is an organization formed only in 2010 and is nowhere comparable to Taliban. read more
Bangladesh has a long history of pre-election violence. In 1996, polls had to be conducted twice in the space of a few months because of political violence between BNP and League supporters.
