I don't think people want to close Guantanamo bay, or better put, the US Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay. What people want closed down is the prison within the Naval Base, where suspected terrorists are being held without trial or the protection that the law affords us all in the US. read more
Guantanamo Bay is a military base on the island of Cuba. It is currently used to house detainees from the war on terror. None of these detainees have been charged with a crime, nor are they prisoners of war. And that description in and of itself explains why people want it to be closed. read more
