Oahu is 2,500 miles from the West Coast of the mainland United States, and there is no way to drive there. Even with an amphibious vehicle, you would be ill-equipped for the massive amount of open water you would need to cover to get there. read more
We just were in Honolulu in July and rented a car for one day to drive around the island. A car is not needed if you stay on Waikiki and is a bother and extra expense (parking). We got up and out early and were back with the car in the afternoon after touring most of the island. read more
