I have lived in Orange County, California, for over thirty years. I was born and raised in Minnesota. Relative to MN, housing prices were quite high. My ex-husband called it "joining the California club. read more

But in general, living in Orange county, or Southern California, is pretty diverse culturally, as compared with where I grew up, which was very white at the time. In general I have found Southern California to be very accepting as a culture. I got divorced shortly after I got here, and rather than being judged for it, people were kind and accepting. read more

The city of Orange is aptly named because it used to be filled with orange groves. Although, fun fact: Oranges were not grown here when the city was founded it was named after the birthplace of one of town's founders, Orange County, Virginia. read more

Most of the Orange County communities have Homeowner's Associations (HOA); it's not just Irvine. I live a few miles away from Irvine, in Rancho Santa Margarita. read more
