I always thought the television show, "Northern Exposure" was a pretty good depiction of what it's like to live up there, although Fairbanks is a much bigger city/town than the one on the show. I enjoyed the overall attitude of Alaskans in general. read more
The Northern Lights in Fairbanks are incredible; partly due to the sub-arctic climate. Daylight hours are the antithesis of summer; long hours of dark, but not dark all the time. The snow reflects every bit of light, including the stars, and aurora. read more
