How time flies! There have been some changes since I last visited. When I was there 7 years ago, it was not forbidden to take photos, AFAIK. I walked around the Auschwitz main camp and the Auschwitz II camp (Birkenau) for several days, carrying two cameras, and no one said a word to me about not taking photos. read more

Auschwitz/Birkenau is a tough place to visit, but it’s important to keep the memory alive, to learn from the past and to stay alert as similar things are still happening today. It’s probably easier to commemorate the millions of victims of the Holocaust after 70 years. read more
