What is it like when state surveys a nursing home?

It is very stressful for the facility. I was a surveyor in Long term care. Medicare and Medicaid are insurance. This is the way that CMS establishes that the requirements are being met. Great facilities will do well. read more

I have worked at two nursing homes and gone through several state surveys. Everything in the nursing home carries on as normal except there are state examiners following employees around and going through the facility records. They go through the records to make sure that nurses are properly documenting care, charting meals etc. read more
