The safety standards of aviation have been more helpful in reducing all sorts of fatalities due to any adventure sports. As of the comparison Hang Gliding is much safer as per the statistics alone. read more
Also, in hang gliding reserve parachutes are not mandatory, and when used they are naught but small round parachutes which can result in bone crunching landings. The reserve parachute used in skydiving is a square parachute very similar to a main parachute. read more
An insurance actuarial table published in Time magazine 25 or so years ago rated hang gliding as 3 times more dangerous than skydiving. I don't know if changes in either sport has changed that ratio since then. Downhill skiing was much safer than either of those sports, and mountain climbing was the worst, maybe 10 times worse than skydiving. read more
Alot less dangerous than skydiving. Hang gliding is when you are strapped to the frame of the hang glider. Far fewer deaths than sky diving. Hang gliding deaths are because people ride into mountains or power lines. read more
