Most common substrates will be fine for guppies. Substrates more depend on if you are getting bottom dwellers or not. Sand is preferable for many fish like cory cats and loaches. I prefer sand as a substrate as I find it easier to clean and less prone to nitrite/ammonia spikes. read more
