Thanks to the Suez Canal, the traditional “seven seas” (Adriatic, Mediterranean, Black Sea, Caspian Sea, Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea and Red Sea) are all connected except for the Caspian Sea which remains isolated from the system. The seven seas are normally considered to be the oceans of the planet, since there are a whole lot more than seven seas. Four are already connected, and the fifth cannot be connected to all of them, since the Arctic is way up north and the Antarctic is on the opposite end of the planet. read more
