Treat the stained carpet with ammonia and vinegar to remove the last traces of red clay. Use this process carefully and work slowly to avoid damaging carpet fibers. Mix ammonia and water (2 tbsp. of ammonia to 1 cup of lukewarm water) and dampen a clean cloth with the solution. Gently blot at the red clay stain with the cloth. read more
Allow the clay to dry on the piece. Once dry, use the stiff brush to remove as much as possible. This is best done outdoors where you can brush and shake the piece out frequently. Remove as much of the loosened clay as possible. Next, use a soft cloth to spread Murphy’s Oil Soap over the stained area. read more
