The statewide drought emergency is over, but about 15% of California, concentrated along the Southern Coast, remains abnormally dry as of April 26. Another 8% is experiencing moderate to severe drought conditions, the same as last month. About 77% of the state is identified as drought-free. read more
Abnormal dryness or drought are currently affecting approximately 28,479,000 people in California, which is about 76% of the state's population. read more
The middle of the state is still (as of June 1st, 2016) in long term deep drought and efforts to bring water from east Texas to Los Angeles have been ignored thus far. East Texas has experienced significant rainfall this year and moving that excess water to the crops in California should be a priority. read more
