They would take turns standing over a one-liter bottle of Diet Coke dropped Mentos to try to get them to land in the bottle. It’s harder than it sounds. Well, my nephew’s littlest friend is the one who “won” this little challenge. read more
When the mentos is put into the coke, the soft layer is dissolved off. The rough sorface of the mentos releases the carbon dioxide dissolved inside the coke (H 2 CO 3 ), but the mentos is small, and can only hold a little ammount of the carbon dioxide. read more
In the Diet Coke bottle the Mentos candy provides a rough surface that allows the bonds between the carbon dioxide gas and water to break more easily, helping to create carbon dioxide bubbles. read more
