The main difference between boogie woogie and stride is in the LH. Stride has an octave then chord pattern that is repeated by the LH and drives the rhythm, boogie woogie has a more intricate bassline which sounds completely different than stride. read more

In my estimation, Jazz is more of an umbrella term for several types of music including blues, ragtime, boogie-woogie, stride etc. Jazz can mean lots of things, while boogie specifically means the type of music that has a thumping left hand train-like bass and right-hand melodies. read more
