In the colloquial use of “holistic”, this is an oxymoron. The people who favour holistic (in this sense) practices are the same people who start foaming at the mouth when someone mentions GMOs. GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organism. A lot of definitions of GMOs, like the one given in one of the other answers or the one on the wall at Whole Foods, are incorrect. They are the definition for a transgenic organism, which is just one type of GMO. read more
