When I was in Chisinau, everybody spoke Russian. I speak Russian; I don't speak Romanian. I had zero problems communicating with anybody. It would probably be better if you spoke Romanian, but Russian does the job just fine. read more
Chisinau is the capital of the country and most people speak Romanian. Only a few part (~5%) will speak only Russian. Instead, Bălți, which is located north of the country is considered to be the Russian capital of Moldova and Russian is widely spoken, unlike Chisinau. read more
