I would say past the entertainment/heart-wrenching value, it brought attention to the plight of the animals in a world war. So often there is sympathy to the veterans and family's and people in the war-torn nations, but war itself is a brutal and nasty thing for a naturally peaceful, kind animal to go through. read more

It was beautifully filmed and well directed, but War Horse was essentially a paean to the bond between a boy and his horse. It was a variation of Black Beauty, with more mature content; I didn't see any important message in it. read more
