Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE and Egypt has cut diplomatic ties with qatar. which means trade and transportation between these countries are at temporary halt. Air space for national carriers are also closed. As per recent updates, Qatar also closed its border for goods coming from saudi & UAE. read more

Saudi and allied relations with Qatar have been tense for years. In 2014, some of the same countries pulled out their diplomats from Qatar citing similar concerns. That dispute took nearly a year to resolve. Saudi Arabia also withdrew its ambassador to Doha from 2002 to 2008. read more

Qatar’s support for regional Islamists, notably but not only the Muslim Brotherhood, and provision of Doha-based Al Jazeera as a platform for groups criticizing regional states, incited periods of intense friction. Saudi Arabia withdrew its ambassador from Doha in 2002 in response to Al Jazeera’s coverage of domestic affairs within the kingdom. read more
