What is your favorite Ernest Hemingway novel?

The Sun Also Rises. Hemingway wrote this short, vivid, mesmerizing first novel in 1926, about a motley crew of U.S. and British expats who travel to Pamplona in Spain to watch the bullfights. Again,"Old Man and the Sea" because it's more of an extended short story. Hemingway excelled at punchy short stories where much of the meaning is implied. The novels seem to meander. The allegory is simple, yet meaningful -- a good parallel to the sory of Job. read more
