Adoption scenario in India is abysmal and shameful. We, as a nation, house the world's highest number of destitute children (almost 60 million). We are also home to more than 20 million infertile couples. But we clock just less than 4500 adoptions per year! All because we, as a community, are self centered and ritualistic. read more

Adoption is like a competition in our country for both the child and the parents. The child has to win so many hurdles before winning the competition and get adopted. The hurdles can range from fair complexion, age, gender to physical health. read more

I feel in a country like India, where the # of abandoned kids is so high and the condition of orphanges is USUALLY not good, I feel its very important to atleast consider adoption once you have a child of your own.
