Some mothers choose to have elective c-sections (considered for non-medical reasons) because they previously had a complicated vaginal birth or want to be in control of when they deliver. C-sections make up 1 in every 3 deliveries, but they are still considered serious abdominal surgery. read more

It was the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ official position on elective c-sections, outlining the pros and cons of that procedure vs. vaginal labor.
