What is your opinion on the child labour reforms of India?

From what I have read about the reforms so far, it is a lot tougher than the previous law that prohibited child labor only in hazardous industries. The new law prohibits employing children under 14 in all industries and also increases the penalty on the abusers. read more

Two, section 3 in Clause 5 allows child labour in “family or family enterprises” or allows the child to be “an artist in an audio-visual entertainment industry”. Since most of India’s child labour is caste-based work, with poor families trapped in intergenerational debt bondage, this refers to most of the country’s child labourers. read more
