A distant relative of 19th century Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. He began his film career in 1981 with the film 'Luger.' As from that time, he made seven other productions, amongst these, '06,' winner of the Special Prize from the Jury and the Prize from the Critics at the Film Festival in Holland in 1994 and selection of the 20th São Paulo International Film Festival. read more
Theo van Gogh was born on 23 July 1957 in The Hague, Netherlands to Anneke and Johan van Gogh. His father served in the Dutch secret service ('AIVD', then called 'BVD'). He was named after his paternal uncle Theo, who was captured and executed while working as a resistance fighter during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands during World War II. read more
