Of Disney's classic animated history, Beauty and the Beast is somewhere around the vicinity of great allure, but lacking in the foundation of intent. Belle's is the story of personal redemption, and I suppose a metaphor for acceptance (if an extreme pushing of that metaphor); in the respect of the representation of these ideas, the 1991 classic is perfectly reasonable. read more

Beauty lets you know right from the start that it is not a subtle film, full of bluster and fire and singing and talking everything. (And everything talking at the top of its lungs.)
