The pochtecas were the 'people from Pochtlan', the place were the merchants from both Tlatelolco and Tenochtitlán met, and they were specialized in higher-value merchandise: The pochtecas counted on the caravans of tlamemes (carriers) to reach distants lands on foot to keep the markets functioning. read more
