I can't think of any advantages. Some think it was a result of the Franco Prussian War, which the Germans won but derived no advantage from. The First World War that was completely avoidable, an example of poor leadership on all fronts. Clearly no one,, especially the generals, knew what they were getting into. read more
But anyway, I will elaborate the “cons” of the First World War for you: Millions of people were killed or maimed in some of the most horrible ways possible: by gas attacks cauterizing your skin, being burned alive by flamethrowers, drowning in mud and lots more.
