I've read the other answers and no-one seems to have mentioned this way of pronouncing the Mahal (long a before the l). She (my wife) was born in Delhi, and speaks Hindustani. Maybe it's a dialect thing. I believe that all our Indian friends and aquaintances that we've discussed Indian tourism with also say it as Tazh Ma-Hail'. read more
