Ottoman Empire actually invaded Persia. Selim 1 invaded Tebriz, Shah Ismael could not raise another army and fought again against Ottoman Empire. I don’t think Selim 1 had an intention to conquer Persia. He eliminated Persian threat, invaded Iraq, sacred lands, Syria and Egypt. His next decision would possibly be Europe. read more
