The cartoonish level of violence and murder of the Great Purges would not have happened. Lenin would doubtless have been a ruthless ruler, but he would never have come anywhere near the monstrosity of Stalinism. Which means a more thickly populated, happier Russia. read more
Lenin had a good amount of control over the party. He didn't have "competitors" who he'd need to remove and he wasn't paranoid like Stalin either. With foreign policy I'm not sure. I think though, that Lenin was pragmatic enough to abandon Trotsky's uninterrupted revolution for socialism in one country. read more
