The view from the air told the story to me- mud and lava flow from Mt. Rainier had literally flattened the whole area from Mt. Rainier to Puget Sound. Seattle sits right in that flow path, with the terminus being Elliot Bay. read more
Mount Rainier is part of the Cascade Range, a string of mountains and foothills, including Mount Saint Helens, that march from southern British Columbia in Canada to northern California.
